Tour to France and Belgium, April 2018

Over the weekend of the 19th to 23rd of April 2018, the combined choirs of Cȏr Meibion Pontypridd and Cȏr Meibion Dowlais set out on an odyssey to France and Belgium to sing and lay a wreath at the First World War Memorial, Ypres Menin Gate, the Tyne Cot Cemetery and the Welsh Memorial in Flanders nearby.
The wreath laying ceremony and the playing of the Last Post occurs at the Ypres Menin Gate every evening at 20:00hrs. and has done so since 1928.

A representative from each of the two choirs laid a wreath on the behalf of the members present.
A number of wreaths were also laid by representatives from Australia and New Zealand who were in Europe to commemorate ANZAC Day, a few days later on the 25th April.

The following day, the joint choirs combined with La Lyre Halluinoise for a gala concert in front of an audience of five hundred at Eglise Notre Dame Des Fievres Ȧ Halluin.
The choirs sang an eclectic mix of modern and traditional songs and came together at the end of the concert to perform Mwfanwy, You Raise Me Up and Unchained Melody.
